He needs Battlefield Incursion to deploy his minions (unlike Metroplex who can deploy them himself by flipping to alt). Trypty can sit in alt until you find one (since he has better defense in this mode anyway). Then, unless it is Brunt he deploys, you want to flip his teamie first. They have better abilities on their other sides. Trypty is probably going to want the repair skill. You also hope to find Ancient Wisdom and Unleash Potential to guarantee you get a Relentless Invasion. It is useful after his teamies have been KO’d to bring them back and clout the enemies; but if you don’t get it in hand, it’s good for its pips.
